An inclusive, non-profit, arts-based society founded in 1978. CSIF focuses on production, exhibition and providing resources such as workshops and information sharing for emerging film-makers. Also runs the $100 Film Festival every year and the Visiting Artists’ in Calgary.

Founded in 1978 by a group of independent filmmakers the society is now supported by the Canada Council, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Calgary Region Art Foundation. Currently they distribute the National Film Board production funding for local film projects, and present the $100 Film Festival annually.
