Annual film festival in Utah, founded in 1995 and held each year exactly at the same time as the Sundance Film Festival. They compete with Sundance in an effort to provide what their supporters consider a truer representation of independent film-making, and champions emerging directors operating with very limited budgets. Since it's founding, other affiliated Slamdance film festivals have sprung up internationally, in countries like China and Poland.

WorldFest was founded in August, 1961 as Cinema Arts, an International Film Society. It evolved into a competitive International Film Festival in April, 1968, showcasing quality independent film.
