Arthouse Cinema in Glendale, California, the Alex Theatre was designed by architects Charles R. Selkirk and Arthur G. Lindley and completed in 1925. Originally both a Vaudeville and motion picture house with Greek and Egyptian motifs, the theater stands today as a surviving example of movie and vaudeville palaces of the early 20th century. The Silent Movie Theatre is the only silent theatre in the USA. It is a vintage art deco theatre built in 1942 that has been fully restored to its original 40's deco design and is available for a variety of special events that requires an intimate Hollywood setting. The theatre houses a vintage 210 seat screening room and stage with a state of the art sound system. The projection booth is capable of running many formats, as well as the theater's silent film program with stars like Felix the Cat, Buster Keaton, and many other stars from the silent film era, accompanied by piano/organ.
